In October 2009, Jayne returned from Queensland, Australia where she taught for 8-consecutive days in which a "mini-retreat" took place at at Sanctuary Retreat near Mission Beach, 2-hours south of Cairns and 3-hours north of Townsville.  In 2010 the second retreat with 13 participants was undertaken with the result being people requesting a longer retreat.  We returned in 2011 following Cyclone Yasi to a place that still held magic as it healed from the impact of the cyclone.  We look forward to seeing Sanctuary now that the rainforest has had 18 months to more fully regenerate.

Come join us in 2012 to relax and dive deeper into your yoga (no experience needed but participants need to be in good health to attend).

A Typical Retreat Day (Subject to Change):

Asana Practice 7:30-9:00 am - Our daily practice of breathing, physical postures and relaxation begin in the yoga space each morning.  The level of the class will be adjusted to the abilities of the participants with the aim of the morning practice being to challenge where you are currently in your yoga practice.

Workshop/Lecture: 10 am - 12 noon: Various topics related to philosophical or healthy lifestyle education and discussion are presented during this time.

Relaxation Free Time 10:00 am - 4:00 pm –
Finding relaxation in our every day lives is often challenging.  Four hours of “me time” is scheduled every day during the retreat. with a full day off in the middle of the retreat.  Enjoy the secluded beach just a 10-minute walk away, laze by the pool, read, socialize or head out for more adventure on the world famous Great Barrier Reef, sea kayaking or white water rafting.  This is your chance to harmonize with the natural environment and take time for your own exploration and rejuvenation.

Moving Inward 4:00 pm-6:00 pm - Our evening practice will be a combination of meditation, Kirtan (music) and restorative yoga.  This week long retreat provides us all with an opportunity to move more deeply into our own awareness and growth.

Dinner 7:00 pm –Sanctuary Retreat provides a varied and fresh vegetarian menu with other non-vegetarian options.  A vegetarian evening meal is included in the price of the retreat.

Sunrise Meditation:
It is anticipated that we will offer a Sunrise meditation for those interested in a silent walk through the rainforest and sitting to greet the sun on at least one/two of the retreat mornings.
