Story Behind This CD

Over the past five years my husband and I have had four major surgeries and a few minor procedures.  Fortunately, we both had a yoga practice for years leading up to these events which, upon reflection, truly assisted us to get through these challenges with greater ease.

Early one morning during a hospital stay following an emergency appendectomy, I was awakened with the sound of a beeping alarm growing progressively louder, notifying the need for more pain medication.  What followed were a few moments of loud sounds, bright lights, discomfort and a feeling of "why me"?  This led to some tears of anguish which were followed by the question, "If I were my own yoga therapist right now, what would I suggest that I do"?  Within an hour I had altered my body position, focused on my breath, covered my eyes with a lavender scented eye pillow, and listened to familiar and soothing music.  As the nurse came in for a blood draw, he remarked, "You look so relaxed, and it smells go great in here"!

The comments alone from medical staff as we have undergone various procedures are often the same.  "You're so calm.  It must be your yoga.  I wish all my patients could feel this way..."  Well, you can!  Just a few minutes a day will help you learn easy tools which can be called on when things become challenging.  It's useful to have a familiar practice that's as simple as a single breath and this takes time.  Plan ahead by loading the CD onto an iPod or MP3 player to more quickly master these techniques, including any other sounds or music that you find soothing.

Here is your chance to have the best possible outcome.
We hope you heal well.

Testimonials:

Surgery is a stressful event for everyone involved. The better you can handle the stress of the anxiety, the surgery and the postoperative pain, the better the experience will be for you. This CD helps you manage all of these stresses naturally without relying on medications which have many side effects. I am recommending this CD to all of my surgical patients and I believe it will help reduce anxiety and pain, leading to a more positive experience and better result.

Much of my practice consists of having my patients focus on wellness and prevention of disease.  As a result, I believe the Optimal Healing CD can provide patients with a tool to help prevent anxiety and stress prior to virtually any medical procedure.  Moreover, this CD can begin to place more power in the patient as they seek ways of enhancing their health.  I highly recommend this CD!

It is so important to be in a positive frame of mind when in a situation where physical (and emotional) healing needs to take place. Being a Physical Therapist and seeing healing take place first hand, I know that the state of mind of the patient has everything to do with the recovery process, the rate of recovery, and total recovery potential. This is why it is important to have guidance that can help you exercise your mind’s true potential for optimum healing to occur.

Jayne and Ken have developed a great CD that can help guide the listener through this process of focused healing and it will help the listener find a positive state of relaxation so as to maximize this healing potential we all have in us.

I would recommend this CD to anyone who wants help and guidance in directing their thought process to find a better place in their bodies for healing, and a better place for balance in their lives.

"It was the single best thing I brought with me to the hospital for surgery last month. And the single best thing I had at home (besides Nurse Dean!) for recovery. The combination of Jayne's reassuring voice, the clear guided imagery, and Ken's beautiful, transformative music helped me to breathe and relax into the moment. Thank You!!"

The CD "Optimal Healing" by Jayne Robertson and her brother Ken Robertson, is a very pleasant way to approach surgery. I used it myself when I was going into double knee replacement earlier this year. I listened to it several times before my surgery and it really did have a calming affect on me.

Jayne's voice is very soothing and guiding in the dialogue part of the CD . And Ken's music is something one could listen to anytime there was a need for calming, meditative music. They have made a  wonderful, loving piece of work that could help anyone going in for surgery.

I played the CD both before and after my knee surgery a number of times and found it to be incredibly calming and supportive.  The phrase “energy in/energy out” was particularly helpful as was the breathing of gratitude.  Given that my surgery was delayed several hours, I would normally have felt particularly anxious but as I focused on my breath and visualization of a successful outcome those anxieties were relieved. I have two friends who are about to undergo major surgeries and I’m purchasing the CD as a gift to them!  Thank you so much!!
